Days in the Dioceses: Meet the Bragança-Miranda Diocese
The Diocese of Bragança-Miranda will welcome young people from around the world in the week before World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023, in the Days in the Dioceses (DND), from the 26th to the 31th of July.
Bragança-Miranda is the fourth largest Diocese in Portugal and has four Archpriestates. These are divided into 18 Pastoral Units, within which there are a total of 321 parishes.
On top of having more than 123 000 people, the Diocese of Bragança-Miranda also has a vast gastronomy and traditions. One of the main traditions is that of the Caretos, who appear at Carnival time. Artisans in the region produce their colorful costumes, masks, and rattles.
The Diocese of Bragança-Miranda has a rich gastronomy, with the main highlights being "Posta à Mirandesa" and the various sausages. Besides the incredible landscapes, the Diocese also has many places to visit, such as the Castle of Bragança, the Cathedral of Bragança, the Cathedral of Miranda do Douro, the Basilica of Torre de Moncorvo, and all of its natural landscapes.

The Days in the Dioceses (DND) are a gathering of young people from around the world leading up to World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023 and will take place in 17 dioceses in mainland Portugal and the islands: Algarve; Angra; Aveiro; Beja; Braga; Bragança-Miranda; Coimbra; Évora; Funchal; Guarda; Lamego; Leiria-Fátima; Portalegre-Castelo Branco; Porto; Viana do Castelo; Vila Real and Viseu.
