Registration as a central volunteer

Applications for central volunteers are now closed. Volunteers who have submitted an application by 18 June 2023 can finalise their application between 18 and 30 June*.

*Central volunteers with full registration by June 18 (uploaded all three documents in the reserved area and submitted their application) can be validated and make payment for their chosen package by June 30.

Central Volunteers help in the organization and support the implementation of the central events of WYD Lisbon 2023. Registration is done through the official platform, at this link.

To be able to prepare all volunteers, WYD Lisbon 2023 will give priority to those who are available between July 23rd and August 7th 2023. However, central volunteers with lower availability (at least two days between 1 and 6 August) may also register on the platform.

All are welcome to join! To be a central volunteer, you must be over 18 years old on 23 July 2023. The recommended maximum age is 60.

There are also ongoing registrations for healthcare volunteers. Healthcare volunteers are doctors, nurses, nursing and medical students, and other health professionals (psychologists, pharmacists, etc.). More information here.

Information about the approval of the application will be sent by e-mail. When approved, you can choose the Volunteer Package and proceed to pay the contribution (credit card). Once your registration is confirmed, you will start the training plan (you will receive an email from training@no-reply.lisboa2023.org to access the e-learning platform).

For good preparation of all central volunteers, we strongly recommend registering as soon as possible. After the registration, there will be a validation phase of the applications. Only after this phase, the candidate can begin the training plan. The earlier volunteers are part of the WYD team, the better knowledge they will have about the entire organization regarding the areas and people they will work with during WYD Lisbon 2023. 

Registration as a Parish Volunteer

Parish Volunteer applications must be submitted to parishes by June 30, 2023.

Parish Volunteers help in the organisation and support the reception of pilgrims who stay in the Parishes of the Reception Dioceses: Lisbon, Santarem and Setúbal. In every parish there is a person responsible for WYD volunteers, with whom you can register (the process may vary from one parish to another).

To be a parish volunteer, you must be over 15 years old on 23 July 2023. If you are between the ages of 15 and 18, there must be an adult volunteer in that parish who is your guardian. Without an age limit.

We recommend that volunteers register as early as possible, to ensure they are well prepared. After registration, there will be a phase of validation of the applications. Only after this phase can the candidate start their training plan.

The sooner you are part of the WYD team, the better knowledge you will have about the whole organisation and the areas and people you will be working with during WYD.

WYD is built with the generosity of all! All volunteers are therefore asked to contribute an amount, depending on the package they choose (with/without accommodation, food, etc.), covering part of the costs. Enrollment as a volunteer is only confirmed after the payment of this contribution.

Central Volunteers Packages

The registration method may vary according to the Volunteer Registration Packages table – which always cover the period from 23 July to 7 August. For the final Main Events of WYD Lisbon 2023 at Tejo Park (Parque Tejo), Central Volunteers will be given an evening meal on the night of August 5th and breakfast on August 6th, regardless of the Volunteer Package they selected. All volunteers will have access to every Main Event during the entire week of WYD and the opportunity to participate in the meeting between Holy Father and WYD volunteers on August 6th.

Parish Volunteer Packages

Unique Package for parish volunteers: includes transport, insurance and volunteer kit and covers the period from July 23rd to August 7th. For the final Main Events of WYD Lisbon 2023 at Tejo Park (Parque Tejo), Parish Volunteers will be given an evening meal on the night of August 5th and breakfast on August 6th. All volunteers will have access to every Main Event during the entire week of WYD and the opportunity to participate in the meeting between the Holy Father and WYD volunteers on August 6th.
