Team Leaders meet again for new Boot Camp
It was last Sunday, April 2nd and Palm Sunday, that the IV Boot Camp for Volunteer Team Leaders took place. After three editions rich in testimonies of gratitude and expectations, this new meeting took place in the infrastructures of the Católica Lisbon School and had around 80 inscriptions, focusing mainly on the importance of their leadership role.
Throughout the day, the Volunteer Team Leaders were challenged with practical cases, representing what they might encounter during the week of World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023.
Despite the uncertainty of the tasks that await a Team Leader, it is already known that they will be in charge of a team of volunteers, so it is essential to design a profile suited to the nature of this mission.
For Matilde, Central Team Leader, to participate in the Boot Camp allows "to learn a lot of tools, from discovering the problem to finding solutions". In addition, "it was an opportunity to create team spirit and realise that we need each other," she added.
I hope it will be a meeting full of life, with lots of movement, but, above all, a meeting that will remain forever in our memory. An unforgettable moment
The main objective of these Boot Camps is to train each Volunteer Team Leader, preparing them at a technical, operational and behavioural level for logistical, leadership, planning and management aspects, so that they are prepared for the duties that await them. Moreover, the effort and commitment of the volunteers are a witness to all, and their presence in this training is the certainty that together they are committed to better serve WYD Lisbon 2023.
Maria Enes, Team Leader of the Diocese of Portalegre-Castelo Branco, who participated in this fourth edition of the Boot Camp, invited everyone to sign up as volunteers for WYD Lisbon 2023:
Take a risk, sign up and let God's hand fall upon you. Do your part and live the experience, always in the love of Christ. It will be wonderful!
Jerónimo Duarte, 23 years old, considers that being a volunteer in the biggest meeting of young people from all over the world with the Pope is a "way of being closer to God". He also reinforced the idea that "this type of training is very important as it allows us to gain skills and develop new ways of thinking and of solving problems that may occur".
The first phase of registration for core volunteers ends on April 20. All core volunteers who have paid before that date will be assigned first to the areas where they will be working. This assignment will be communicated by May 20. More information about the application process here.
