Food
Restaurant Network
The WYD Lisbon 2023 will be responsible for providing food to all peregrines that enrol in the A1, A1+ (30th July), A1+ (8th August), A2, B1, B1+, B2, C2, V1, V2 and V4 packages. Pilgrims within these packages will have an active QR code in their credentials, which will allow them to eat in restoration establishments connected to the restoration network.
These places can be restaurants, cafes, canteens, supermarkets, or food trucks. Through the WYD Lisbon 2023 official App it is possible to identify the closest adherent establishments and find their timelines and menus. In the App, you will also be able to verify which establishments have available vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free meals, those that have low mobility access, and understand people’s affluence and movement in these places.
The QR Code in the credential will allow access to two daily meals that cannot be accumulated when they are not used. The QR Code is personal and untransmissible and will be validated in restoration establishments in order to get access to meals. Once validated, it will only be available for validation during the next meal.
Each pilgrim will have access to breakfast in their accommodation facility, group spaces, or within the accommodation family.
Note: The restaurant network will not be able to access to the lunch and dinner on Saturday (August 5th). On Sunday, August 6th, pilgrims registered with Package with food will still be able to enjoy two meals in the participating restaurants of the restaurant network with the credential.
Meal Kit
On the days corresponding to the Vigil and the Sending Mass, on August 5th and 6th, WYD Lisbon 2023 will distribute to registered pilgrims a set of 4 meals (The Meal Kit) corresponding to Saturday's lunch and dinner, and Sunday's breakfast and lunch. The QR Code on the credential will grant access to the Meal Kit.
This set of meals consists of food with various characteristics to accommodate the diverse dietary needs of pilgrims, including options for vegetarians, vegans, and individuals with gluten intolerance. These meals can be exchanged among pilgrims based on their specific requirements.
The Food Pack will be distributed from trailers parked along the routes leading to Campo da Graça (Parque Tejo). The information on the collection points for Meal kits can be consulted on the map of the official "Lisboa 2023" App.
The Meal Kit can be picked on Saturday, August 5th, from 6 am to 10pm. On Sunday, August 6th, will only be given Meal Kits to pilgrims arriving at Campo da Graça (Parque Tejo) after closes the distribution on Saturday (10pm); on Sunday the distribution will be from 6 am to 12pm.
Note: The restaurant network will not be able to access to the lunch and dinner on Saturday (August 5th). On Sunday, August 6th, pilgrims registered with Package with food will still be able to enjoy two meals in the participating restaurants of the restaurant network with the credential.
Caloric Valuation of the Meal Kit:
Note: WYD Lisbon 2023 is working to achieve the greatest diversity of foods in view of the possibility of pilgrims with intolerances/food allergies, however it cannot guarantee individual diet. The meal system (restaurant network, breakfast and meal kit) has been designed to have gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. For the food kit in the Watch, pilgrims may exchange foods between the components of the group so that they can choose the food most suitable to their options or restrictions. In cases of need for enterical/paste feeding, see more information here.
