Youth Festival: Theatre and Dance
The Youth Festival, which will feature 480 events spread across over 100 venues, includes 16 theatre and dance groups. These moments of theatre and dance will be performed by young pilgrims from various parts of the world.
Among the plays, those performed by Portuguese youth stand out, such as "Evangelho - the Musical," "Black Light Theatre - Love for Portugal," and "D. Bosco, the Musical," the latter dedicated to the life of one of the Patrons of WYD Lisbon 2023.
In addition to the Portuguese, young French people will also present theatre plays inspired by prominent Church figures, such as Saint Anthony, Saint Francis, Saint Thérèse, and Saint Joan of Arc.
In addition to theatre, dance will also have its place in the Youth Festival. Various dance styles from around the world will be showcased - Vietnamese, Hebrew, Lebanese - as well as the World Youth Dance Crew and a Flash Mob performed by young people from the Salesian Youth Movement.
During the week of the World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023, young people will have the opportunity to participate in conferences, in several cultural, religious, and sports events of the Youth Festival, as well as attend concerts and theatre and dance performances. In the Youth Festival, young people will be able to experience the joy, youthfulness, universality, and faith that characterize the largest gathering of young people from around the world with the Pope.
Pilgrims from all over the world will pass through the Youth Festival and will be the protagonists of the more than 480 events, open to everyone and free of charge, spread across indoor and outdoor stages and spaces in more than 100 venues.
