President of the Portuguese Republic has already registered for WYD Lisbon 2023
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, visited the headquarters of the Local Organizing Committee (COL) of the World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023, having submitted his registration as a pilgrim.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was received this afternoon by Dom Américo Aguiar, President of the WYD Lisbon 2023 Foundation, by the executive secretary Duarte Ricciardi and by the young people who are working on the organization of WYD Lisbon 2023. Upon arrival, the President highlights that it is an honour to Portugal to host this “meeting of youth from all over the world”. Marcelo has no doubt that WYD Lisbon 2023 “will be the biggest collective meeting ever in Portugal”.
The President of the Republic took the opportunity of this in-person visit to register as a pilgrim on the official registration platform. After submitting his registration, Marcelo invited everyone: “Join us. Mark this week on your calendar and move forward.”
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited the spaces of the different working areas, spoke with volunteers, and did not miss the opportunity to take the “famous” selfie with the President.
A plaque evoking this moment was also unveiled, with special thanks to Marcelo for his “unconditional support since the dream”, the dream of hosting the World Youth Day in Portugal.
Registration for WYD Lisbon 2023 is now open and can be submitted through the official registration platform.
