One month into Pope Francis’ registration for World Youth Day (WYD Lisbon 2023), the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) reveals that more than 200 000 young people from all over the world have already started their registration for the biggest meet with the Pope, which will take place in Lisbon, from 1 to 6 of August 2023.
With registered representatives from more than 120 countries (coming not only from Europe, but also from Africa, North, Central and South America), the motivation of these young people to register reflects the diversity of pilgrims from all over the world who will participate in WYD Lisbon 2023.
From Europe, the largest number of registrants came from Portugal and Spain, followed by Poland and Italy. In the Americas, the most representative countries were the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Ecuador. On the African continent, young people from countries such as Mozambique, Angola and Guinea-Bissau, which historically have a closer connection with Portugal, registered.
All the initiatives of the WYD Lisbon 2023, including all the central events with Pope Francis have free access to everyone. Following what happens in all WYD, registration allows pilgrims to have access to different packages, depending on their needs in terms of services, such as accommodation and food, and depending on the period that they will stay in Lisbon.
Those who wish to register as pilgrims, volunteers, at the Youth Festival and at the Vocational Fair of WYD Lisbon 2023, can do so through our official website.
