Henrique Laureano, a young Portuguese artist, stepped onto the stage of Colina do Encontro of the World Youth Day Lisbon 2023, as part of Ensemble23. The group presented the result of six weeks of rehearsals on The Way of the Cross, before young people and the Pope. 

Henrique leaves the stage with the feeling of “duty accomplished”, grateful for the opportunity to represent the figure of Jesus during the celebration. For the young man, art is an important form of evangelization: “We came here to serve and to bring a little bit of God’s message to each person, through art”. 

The young people who are part of Ensemble23 come from different parts of the world, with the aim of transmitting “a love” that is not theirs, but “Jesus’”, adds the Portuguese artist. 

The Way of the Cross at Colina do Encontro will remain forever in the memory of Henrique Laureano: “As a catholic artist, being able to do anything for the Pope is a great blessing”.
