Role of the volunteer
WYD Lisbon 2023 volunteers will be at the service of pilgrims. They are a great support in carrying out the many tasks that an event of this size requires. First, they will be a friendly face, safe, available and able to help those who need it, or forward correctly whatever the need may be general information, questions about the events, support for people with reduced mobility, etc.
There will be very specific needs for which volunteers will be selected according to their profile: language, in the case of communication volunteers; professional training/experience, in the case of volunteers in the health area; experience in team management, in the case of volunteer team leaders, etc.
Training
The preparation of volunteers is essential to responsibly fulfil their mission.
All volunteers must attend the training program prepared for them. This program is done most of the time, online, on an e-learning platform where each volunteer will have a personal account. The training modules will have general content (about the Church, the Pope or WYD), skills in caring for others and service, and specific training content (directed towards the different functions).
Each volunteer will be able to access the e-learning platform at his/her own pace, as long as he/she is responsible for all the modules assigned to him/her as a training plan.
In the week of July 23 to 31, 2023 there will be face-to-face training, in addition to online training, in Lisbon.
To carry out the online training, you will be asked to create a username and password to access the platform where these contents are based (the platform is called “Loop”).
The training program will take about 2 hours per month until July 2023. From the 23rd of July onwards they must have 100% availability, until the 7th of August 2023.
