The Pope's Message for Social Communications
Today, 21 May, we celebrate World Communications Day. To mark this day, Pope Francis left a message aimed at welcoming "open and welcoming communication"
In his message, the Holy Father focused on the importance of "speaking with the heart", highlighting the example of St Francis de Sales, who was distinguished by his "gentleness, humanity and predisposition to dialogue patiently with everyone", Pope Francis noted.
Francis also warned of the dangers of social networks, where "communication is often instrumentalised so that the world sees us not for what we are, but as we would like to be", calling attention to the need for the "miracle of encounter, which makes us look at each other with compassion, welcoming each other's weaknesses with respect, instead of judging from rumours sowing discord and division".
Discover the four sentences we have selected from Pope Francis' Message for World Communications Day:
1.
"The call to speak from the heart radically challenges this time of ours, so prone to indifference and indignation, based at times even on disinformation that falsifies and instrumentalises the truth".
2.
"We are all called to seek the truth and to speak it, doing so with love".
3.
"In the Church, we have urgent need of a communication that to inflame hearts, be balm on wounds and illuminate the journey of our brothers and sisters".
4.
"From the heart flow the right words to dispel the shadows of a closed and divided world and build a better civilization than the one we have received".
